Alexandria Governorate - Arab Republic of Egypt
Alexandria Governorate is located in the northern part of
the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Nile delta across the Mediterranean Sea. The
region is an important cultural, educational and industrial part of the Arab
Republic of Egypt.
Population - 4,3 million. Capital City – Alexandria city.
On May 12, 2012, the Cooperation Agreement between Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Alexandria Governorate (Arab Republic of
Egypt) was signed in Alexandria.
The Agreement envisages cooperation between the Parties in
the following fields:
- Economy
and Business;
- Tourism;
- Education, Culture and Sport;
- Environment Protection;
- Agriculture.
Burgas District -
Republic of Bulgaria
Burgas District is located in the southeastern part of
Republic of Bulgaria. The District is an important cultural, educational and
industrial part of Bulgaria.
Population - 422 458.
Capital City – Burgas city.
On April 2, 2012, the Agreement for the establishment of
Economic and Cultural Relations between the District Administration of Burgas
(Republic of Bulgaria) and the Government of Ajara Autonomous Republic
(Georgia) was signed in Batumi.
The Agreement envisages development of cooperation in the following
spheres:
- Economy;
- Tourism;
- Culture
and Sport;
- Regional
Governance and Local Self-Governance.
Cork County – Ireland
Cork County is located in the southwestern part of Ireland,
in Manchester Province.
Population - 400,000. Administrative Center –Cork city.
On June 21, 2016,
Friendship Agreement between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and the
County of Cork (Ireland) was drawn in Batumi.
The Agreement envisages development of cooperation between the
Parties in the following spheres:
- Economy;
- Tourism;
- Culture;
- EU
Awareness.
Dalian Municipality -
People`s Republic of China
Dalian Municipality is located in Liaoning Province
(People`s Republic of China) by the Yellow Sea.
Population – 6, 17 million. Administrative Center – Dalian
city.
On September 10, 2015, the Agreement on Establishing
Friendly Cooperative City Relations between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia)
and the City of Dalian (People`s Republic of China) was signed in Dalian.
The Agreement envisages development of cooperation in the
following fields:
- Economy;
- Agriculture;
- Healthcare;
- Tourism;
- Culture
and Education;
- Environment Protection;
- City
Planning.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
– Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is located in the southeastern part of
Ukraine. The region is the most important industrial part of the country.
Population - 3,493,062. Administrative Center
–Dnipropetrovsk city.
On May 19, 2014, Memorandum of Cooperation between the
Government of Ajara Autonomous Republic and Dnepropetrovsk Regional Council was
signed in Batumi.
The Memorandum promotes development of cooperation in the
following fields:
- Energy
Efficiency and Climate Maintenance;
- Culture
and Art;
- Information
Technology and E - Governance;
- Small and
Medium Enterprise Activity;
- Agriculture;
- Tourism.
Federal Land of
Brandenburg - Federal Republic of Germany
Federal Land of Brandenburg lies in the northeast of the
Federal Republic of Germany.
Population - 2.5 million.
Capital City - Potsdam.
On June 6, 2013, Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between
the Parliament of the Federal Land of Brandenburg (Federal Republic of Germany)
and the Supreme Council of Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) was signed in
Potsdam.
The Memorandum envisages development of cooperation and
exchange of information between the Parties considering the basic resources and
specificity of parliamentary, regional and federal governance.
Jiangxi Province -
People’s Republic of China
Jiangxi Province is located in the southwestern part of the
People's Republic of China.
Population - 45,421,600. Administrative Center –Nanchang
city.
On June 24, 2016, the Letter of Intent on the Establishment
of Sister Province Relationship between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and
Jiangxi Province (People’s Republic of China) was signed in Batumi.
Under the Agreement, the Parties will:
- carry out
exchanges and cooperation in all sectors to promote common prosperity and
development;
- form
mutual visit mechanism and regular contacts and look for negotiations of
exchanges and cooperation.
In the scope of partnership, on June 24, 2016, the
Cooperation Agreement on Trade and Investment between the Ministry of Finance
and Economy of Ajara Autonomous Republic and China Council for the Promotion of
International Trade Jiangxi Sub Council was signed in Batumi.
Lori Region –
Republic of Armenia
Lori Region is located in the northern part of the Republic
of Armenia. The region is an important part of the country.
Population - 223, 200. Administrative Center –Vanadzor city.
On September 9, 2013, Memorandum of Understanding between
Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Lori Region (Republic of Armenia) was
signed in Batumi.
The Memorandum envisages development of cooperation in the
following areas:
- Industry,
Agriculture, Trade and Transport;
- Tourism
and Sports;
- Education
and Science;
- Culture
and Art;
- Healthcare and Social Issues;
- Local
Self-Governance.
Lower Silesian
Voivodeship – Republic of Poland
Lower Silesian
Voivodeship is located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Poland.
Population - 3 million. Administrative Center - Wrocław city.
On February 27, 2016, the Agreement on Interregional
Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Lower Silesian
Voivodeship (Republic of Poland) was signed in Wrocław.
In frames of the Agreement, the Parties decide to cooperate
and support mutual exchange of experiences and information and to develop joint
projects in the following areas of activity:
concerning the use of financial means from
European Union structural funds and community programmes;
- joint
action to encourage trade and commercial links between regions of both Parties;
- development of relations between universities
and research and technology centers;
- education, youth exchange and lifelong
learning;
- joint
action to encourage health-care and health resort cooperation;
- culture,
encouraging contacts between cultural institutions and organizations;
- tourism,
encouraging mutual exchange of experience in tourism development.
In a line with the Interregional Cooperation, on May 11,
2017, the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Supreme Council of Ajara
Autonomous Republic and the Parliament of Lower Silesian Voivodeship was signed
in Tbilisi.
Lower Silesian Voivodeship has a wide range of cooperation
with the Government of Ajara Autonomous Republic. The cooperation in the field
of education and culture is extremely active.
On December 9, 2015, the Memorandum of Understanding between
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and the School of Physical Education of
Wroclaw; and the Memorandum of Understanding between Batumi Shota Rustaveli
State University and Wrocław School of Banking was signed.
On February 27, 2016, Memorandum of Understanding between
Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze Drama Theater and Legnica Theater of Wroclaw was
signed.
Malopolska
Voivodeship – Republic of Poland
Malopolska Voivodeship is located on the south of the
Republic of Poland.
Population – 3, 2 million. Capital – Krakow city.
On August 19, 2016, the Agreement on Intents of Establishing
Interregional Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and
Malopolska Voivodeship (Republic of Poland) was drawn in Batumi.
The Agreement intends to establish interregional cooperation
in the following fields:
- Economy
and Business;
- Tourism;
- Education, Culture and Sport.
Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous Republic and Malopolska
Voivodeship was established in 2014. By the initiative and support of the
Marshal`s Office of Malopolska Voivodeship, the project of Ajara Labor Market
and Economic Forecasting Observatory was launched. The project included the
future development prospects of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Ajara
Autonomous Republic, of the Ministry of Health and Social Care of Ajara
Autonomous Republic and of the Employment Agency of Ajara Autonomous Republic.
The project has significally contributed to the economic development and
iimproving living standards of the region.
Mangystau Region –
Republic of Kazakhstan
Mangystau Region is located in the southwestern part of the
Republic of Kazakhstan on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea. Mangistau is a
port and industrial region, where 25% of Kazakhstan's oil is extracted.
Population - 633 000. Administrative Center – Aktau city.
On October 3, 2005, the Program on Trade, Economic,
Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous
Republic (Georgia) and Mangystau Region (Republic of Kazakhstan) was signed in
Tbilisi.
On March 1, 2017, Memorandum of Cooperation between Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Mangystau Region (Republic of Kazakhstan) was
drawn in Aktau.
In the framework of the Memorandum, the Parties support the
strengthening of mutual beneficial cooperation in the following fields:
- Trade and
Economy;
- Healthcare;
- Education, Culture and Sport;
- Tourism;
- Transport;
- Agriculture.
Mogilev Region –
Republic of Belarus
Mogilev Province is located in the eastern part of Republic
of Belarus.
Population - 1 062.500. Administrative Center –Mogilev city.
On September 1, 2016, the Memorandum of Cooperation between
Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Mogilev Region (Republic of Belarus)
was signed in Tbilisi.
The Memorandum envisages development of cooperation in the
following spheres:
- Economy;
- Healthcare;
- Education
and Sport;
- Culture;
- Agriculture.
On July 8, 2017, the Agreement on Approval of the 2017-2019
Cooperation Program between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Mogilev
Region (Republic of Belarus) was signed in Mogilev.
Mykolaiv Oblast –
Ukraine
Mykolaiv Oblast is located in the southern part of
Ukraine. Population -1,170,973.
Administrative Center –Mykolaiv city.
On September 17, 2015, the Agreement on Trade, Economic,
Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation between the Government of Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Mykolaiv State Regional Administration
(Ukraine) was signed in Batumi.
In line with the Agreement, the Parties encourage the
development of cooperation in the following areas:
- Economy;
- Agriculture;
- Education, Science and Technology;
- Culture
and Art;
- Healthcare;
- Environmental Protection and Consumption of
Natural Resources.
Odessa Oblast -
Ukraine
Odessa Oblast is located in the southwestern part of
Ukraine. It is an important port, touristic, cultural, educational and
industrial region of the country.
Population - 2,379,229. Administrative Center –Odessa city.
On March 25, 2005, the Program on Trade, Economic,
Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Government of
Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and State Administration of Odessa Region
(Ukraine) was signed in Kiev.
On September 13, 2013, the Agreement on Trade, Economic,
Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation between the Government of Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and State Administration of Odessa Region
(Ukraine) was signed in Batumi.
According to the Agreement, the Parties promote cooperation
in the following fields:
- Economy,
Industrial Activities and Transport;
- Tourism;
- Agriculture;
- Education, Culture and Sport;
- Healthcare and Social Issues;
- Ecology
and Consumption of Natural Resources.
On July 19, 2017, the Cooperation Development Plan for
2017-2019 between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Odessa Oblast
(Ukraine) was signed in Batumi.
Regen District -
Federal Republic of Germany
The District of Regene is located in the southern part of the
Federal Republic of Germany and is one of the most important districts in
Bavaria region.
Population - 76, 812. Administrative Center –Regen city.
On April 30, 2013, the Memorandum of Understanding between
Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Regen Distric of Bavaria Region
(Federal Republic of Germany) was signed in Regen.
Based on the Memorandum, the Parties will promote
cooperation in the following fields:
- Tourism;
- Agriculture;
- Education;
- Regional
Management.
Silesian Voivodeship
- Republic of Poland
Silesian Voivodeship
is the historical region of the Republic of Poland.
Population - 4,676,983. Capital city – Katowice city.
On June 17, 2011, the Agreement on Establishing Cooperation
and Friendly Relations between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Silesian
Voivodeship (Republic of Poland) was signed in Katowice.
The Agreement envisages cooperation in the following areas:
- Trade and
Economy;
- Education, Culture and Art;
- Healthcare and Medical Science;
- Tourism;
- Rural
Development.
On March 30, 2016, the Agreement of Cooperation was signed
between Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Silesian University.
